Marine Basic First Aid & CPR/AED
Comprehensive two-day Marine Basic First Aid & CPR/AED course offers lifesaving first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) skills and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training using marine-based scenarios that meets the requirements of Transport Canada Publication (TP) 39008E. This course is designed for those in a commercial or recreational marine environment, for those needing to provide first aid on a vessel engaged in near-coastal voyages, as well as for those needing a rating certificate, endorsement, or a Master or Chief Mate limited certification. Hands-on training on Federal Marine regulations and first aid kit requirements. Course is equivalent to Standard First Aid for WSIB regulation considerations for workplaces in Ontario. Includes CPR/AED Level C.

COURSE CONTENT: Content includes chapters in The Red Cross, Preparing to respond, The EMS System, Check Call Care, Airway and Breathing Emergencies, Circulation Emergencies, First Aid for Respiratory and Cardiac Arrest, Life-threatening Wound Care, Head and Spinal Injuries, Bone, Muscle and Joint Injuries, Sudden Medical Emergencies such as diabetic shock, Environmental Emergencies, and Poisons.
CPR LEVEL: Includes CPR Level C (Infant, Child, Adult)
PREREQUISITES: N/A
CERTIFICATION: Certification is valid for 3 years for the Transport Canada issued certificate through the Canadian Red Cross. Marine Basic First Aid equivalent to Standard First Aid & CPR/AED certification and therefore meets WSIB regulations for all Ontario workplaces. Recertification is not permitted under federal regulations.
COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS:
- Successfully demonstrate skills and critical steps
- Min. 75% mark for written knowledge evaluation
- Attend and participate in 100% of the course
